Identifying Developmental Delays

A new video series from Programs for Parents explains what developmental "red flags" to look for, and how to help the child and her parents.

Along with the child's parents, you're the person who most influences her growth and development. Each day she's in your care, you have the opportunity to observe her changing abilities. If your instincts tell you she may have a developmental delay, would you know what to do?

The video series includes:

  • One or more videos See our sample videos now!

  • An age-appropriate Assessment Worksheet you can photocopy to record findings - and which you may want to keep for each child to monitor their progress

  • The Assessment Checklist for sharing your findings with the childs' healthcare provider

  • Written materials to guide you through the process of presenting findings to parents

  • Entire program is available in English and Spanish

  • Learn From Developmental Specialists

The Identifying Developmental Delays Video Series includes three videos: A World of Hope targets ages 0-3; Next Steps targets ages 3-5; and Talking to Parents is a guide to sharing your findings with parents.

You may order any one or all three of the videos.

Each video features noted experts as well as children and caregivers in actual child care and clinical settings. There's also information on how to discuss your concerns with the child's parents or guardians, so they can contact the child's healthcare provider.
