Rise & Shines Services

Preschool Services provided to children attending Stuyvesant Head Start, Unified Head Start, Precious Little Child Care Center and Brigther Tomorrows Child Care Center. This year 150 children received the following services:

Developmental Screening
Individual Play Therapy
Speech and Language Assessment and Therapy
Violence Prevention/Problem Solving Curriculum
Personal Safety Curriculum

Infant Toddler Services are made available at Stuyvesant Head Start and Programs for Parents. Families with children attending Vailsburg child care centers as well as families in the community are invited to participate in:

Music Together Parent/ Child Groups
Infant Massage Classes
Parent/child Bonding Groups

Services for Parents offer support in a relaxed setting, encouraging bonding with their children and affiliation with other parents:

Reflective Parenting Series
Infant Massage Training
Parent/Child Bonding Groups
Music Together Parent/Child Groups

Professional Development for Family Child Care Providers & Preschool Teachers

Offered throughout the year, trainings provide thorough grounding in the concepts and practices important to helping infants and young children thrive:

Reflective Practices Training and Ongoing Supervision
Early Childhood Mental Health and Development
The Child Health Warmline- Child Mental Health Topics Guide

Other Services

Every child and family member participating in Rise & Shine can receive fast track referral to more intensive services offered by Family Connections mental health clinicians.

Public awareness and public policy campaigns and events are offered, including Community Breakfasts, Community Fairs and conferences.
